Realistic Day In The Life of a Vegan Bodybuilder Coach

In this video, I’m taking you through a day in my life—everything from my morning routine to my workout, meals, and how I stay productive. There’s lots of self-care, and of course lots of protein. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or what you’d love to see next!

Rise and shine, everybody! Well, I am not much of a morning person, so I’m a bit of a slow-moving creature when I first wake up. So I try to throw the shades open as soon as I wake up to get as much light in my eyes as possible. And then I immediately make my bed.

On Sundays, I lay out outfits for the whole week. I don’t, like, assign them days or anything, but just having them all ready, it’s one less thing I have to think about in the morning. I just grab one, and then I go get dressed.

Next thing I do before I even head downstairs is go into the bathroom and do some skincare, brush my teeth, put on a little bit of makeup, and brush my hair. And this way, by the time I go downstairs, like, I’m already ready to hop on camera for my video calls, and I don’t have to come back upstairs to do a whole bunch of other things that could distract me from getting to work. The first things that I actually eat in the morning are I make my tea.

I have chai tea with soy milk in it every morning. And you all are gonna laugh at me, but I am still having the Kashi Go Crisp Cinnamon Crunch with the edamame soy puffs, fruit, and soy milk as my breakfast every day. I’m not sick of it.

I’m not even close to sick of it yet, so I’m just going to keep having it. Then I sit down at my table, eat my breakfast, and plan out what I have on the agenda for the day just to kind of get my brain ready for what’s ahead. Hello, everybody.

Good morning. I haven’t done a full day in the life type of video in a while, and I figured, hey, why not? There’s nothing special about this day. This is a regular Wednesday.

Obviously, it snowed last night, but not that much, just a few inches. And I already asked Giacomo if he wanted help outside, but he was basically already almost done. So it is, like I said, Wednesday morning.

The only unique thing about this day is that I am planning on going and working at a cafe at some point because if I don’t occasionally do that, I will never leave my house. But I’m gonna start my day working right here, which is not my office, which is where I usually work. This is just my living room.

But at the beginning of the time change, when it started to get dark for like half of the day here, I decided I was going to work in the brightest room of the house until the time changes back, and that is right here. So this is where I will be working. I’m gonna be editing some podcasts, well, pre-editing some podcasts, and then doing my Wednesday check-ins.

I got a couple other projects I gotta do today. I’ll take you along with me. And then we’re training tonight.

That’s about the gist. All right. Hey, Pasha.

I’m really glad to hear that it is feeling better. So I’m checking this out. Friday is bench press day.

I would skip that, but I think that would be the only thing I would skip. Everything else you probably can do. Maybe not this.

Try this with the absolute lightest weight. I’m gonna drink a quick Owen shake, because I’ve been sitting here for several hours and haven’t eaten. And when I go to the cafe, I already know what I’m gonna get.

And it is delicious, but it does not have protein. So I’m gonna get ahead of it with this guy right here. Let’s go.

So I’m about to head out to that cafe. I also had an apple that I didn’t catch on film. I am actually quite hungry.

So I’m really looking forward to this. We are going to the Hummingbird Cafe, which is this mirage-in-the-desert kind of place that opened up in town. It is a 90% vegan restaurant that opened up in Haverhill, Massachusetts, with a chef from London.

It’s way too good to be in Haverhill. Their whole menu is interesting, with, like, unique flavors and a lot of vegetables. So we get a lot of stuff from there to go that’s different, but every time I eat there, it is this grilled-cheese-toasty thing every single time.

How delicious does this look? This is sourdough, house-made cashew cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and a tomato jam. It is absolutely to die for. I just spilled that all down my shirt.

I finished work. Today was one of those days where, like, everything that should have taken 15 minutes took an hour, like, all day long. And now I am going to do some reading in my menopause coaching book.

So I signed up for this back in November, and I just started actually going through it at the beginning of January. It’s a demographic that we work with a lot. Women in perimenopause are approaching it, and postmenopause.

So I figured it would be good to get more information on the best way to support those folks, since it can be a very frustrating time in someone’s life. I don’t know how I feel about the program yet, but again, I’m only a few chapters in, so we’ll see, and I will let you guys know. It’s a little earlier than I normally go to the gym, so one of the other things that I did this winter, the same reason that I’m sitting in my living room working instead of my office, is I decided I want to spend as little time that there is daylight indoors.

So for the first time in as long as I can remember, I am going to the gym at like 4.30, 5 o’clock, which is rush hour, which you would think I would hate, and I kind of do hate. I hate finding parking, that’s for sure. But I don’t like to wait for the equipment, but I’ll tell you what I hate so much more than that, never seeing the sun.

I have upper body on the agenda today, and if I can catch some clips of it, I will do it, but I’ve been having a serious shoulder problem for probably about three and a half months or so now, which is too bad. I was afraid it was frozen shoulder. It is not frozen shoulder.

If you’ve been watching the channel for a long enough time, you remember when I had frozen shoulder in the other arm, and it was a nightmare. But I think it’s just bursitis. I say just, it’s quite painful.

I did get an injection in it a few weeks ago that seems to have helped, but basically I’m doing physical therapy like it’s my job, and all of my upper body workouts are seriously modified to make sure that I’m not doing anything to cause more pain. The other thing is, it is whatever time it is now, four o’clock, I don’t know, and I maybe have a thousand steps, maybe. Steps was something that I’ve taken really seriously for a long time.

I’ve got 10,000 steps a day for years now, but I’m not doing that anymore currently. I am going to go to the gym, do my lift, and then I’m going to do cardio. Yeah, I’m going to do real cardio.

I’ve been doing real cardio for a while, and I’m kind of actually enjoying it, and I never thought that I would see the day when I was like looking forward to just doing cardio. What? Who am I? We’ll see. So my goals currently are just to maintain maybe some small body recomposition, definitely strength gains, especially now for my upper body since it’s taken such a hit.

But I’m really happy with where my body composition is at. So I don’t feel like I need to go through like a bulk or a cut at this point. Like those things are so, they’re such gentle sways at this point when I do go in either one of those directions that it feels really subtle, and maybe someday that will change, but I’m really happy with where it is now, so I’m happy to just stay as fit and healthy as I possibly can and just keep moving.

All right, just got home from the gym, and it was a pretty good workout. I was able to do a couple of things I haven’t been able to do in a while with my shoulder, not hitting any PRs on anything, but I am working really hard on rehabbing the shoulder. I can still train my bi’s and tri’s pretty solidly.

On my back, I’m really working on getting full protraction and retraction of the scapula, and I’m doing a lot of PT. I rode about 12 1⁄2 miles on the bike at a pretty decent clip of resistance, and then I did some stretching, so I was there for two hours, which doesn’t happen every time I go to the gym, but it is always really nice when it does, but now I am a disgusting sweaty mess, so I am going to go shower before I eat. So I keep my creatine on my counter so that I remember to take it once a day.

I usually take it at night with a multivitamin, and you don’t have to take it straight to the dome like that, but that’s just what I do at five grams a day every day. Getting dinner ready now that I’m clean and showering in my jammies. Nimble’s going to help me out here.

She’s the sweetest little kitty in the whole wide world, and I’m going to cook up some broccoli. While that’s cooking, I’m going to do a little more PT on my shoulder, which this hanging from a bar seems to have been very helpful, and I also finished up this project I had, which was making a frame for our backdrop at the Rhode Island Veg Fest this weekend, and again, while my dinner’s kind of cooking, I’m going to get a kind of dessert ready. We don’t have a lot of fresh fruit in the house right now, so I’m putting together all of this frozen fruit, including these peaches I picked in the summer.

I’m just putting them in a bowl, and I’m going to let them thaw, so in a couple hours when I eat them, they are not frozen. This is a sweet potato black bean chili with TVP that I put on top of this cooked broccoli, and then I’m just going to toss it in the microwave until it is nice and hot, and this is a super filling, hearty dinner. Awesome for a frigid day like today was.

Another thing I haven’t talked about much is that over a year ago, I made a decision to stop drinking. I don’t know if this will be forever, but it’s definitely been for over a year, but I do love the taste of beer. I’ve been blown away by how many incredible non-alcoholic beers are out there now that you would never know were alcohol-free, so I’ve been trying to try as many of those as I can, and this one’s very good, and if anyone’s wondering where Giacomo is, he’s sitting up here in his lair.

He spends a lot of time sitting at that six-monitor setup, and then later in the evening, we kind of chill on the couch, watch some shows together, eat little nighttime snacks, pet the kitties, and then Giacomo generally goes to sleep about an hour or two before I do. This is Xander here. He is an aggressively affectionate kitty, and at the end of the night, I like to come upstairs and use my incredible massage chair here.

So this might be my favorite part of the entire day. This is a gift Giacomo got me for Christmas. It’s probably one of the biggest gifts we’ve ever exchanged, although don’t worry, he’s getting his fair share out of it too, and I try to come up here and sit in it for about 20 to 30 minutes every night while I catch up on the news and stuff.

It’s awesome. So this is a really chill, kind of snowy day, lots of work, not a whole lot else, but it’s a realistic day in the life, so that’s what I wanted to share with you guys. I did just calculate up all my food totals, and I want to say it was 1850 calories and 128 grams of protein, so not too shabby considering I kind of wung it a bit today.

I mean, some of them are things I’m very familiar with, but anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this video. If you have any questions, leave them down below, anything you want to see, we would love to make it for you. Hope you guys have a great night.

Bye.
